Parc du Mau

A sports park that builds on what’s already there

The Mau Park is a landscaped sports park for all, designed around the theme of "playful challenge", catering to children, teenagers, adults, and seniors alike. Reflecting the identity of Saint-Memmie, between city and fields, the park "plays with" the site’s distinctive topography along the N44 and favors "tactical" active design installations.

Context

The small town of Saint-Memmie is located on the outskirts of Châlons-en-Champagne, between "city and fields". The proposed site for the sports park builds on existing infrastructure, including football fields, as well as a nature walk through the heart of a wooded area. It is also situated at the edge of a residential neighborhood. However, the site remains fragmented, due to roadside and leftover spaces.

Concept

Make use of what's already there! Active design is at the heart of the project: all installations are freely accessible and encourage physical activity for everyone, centered around the theme of "playful challenge".

These installations are integrated into former roadside wastelands and embankments, taking advantage of the site’s unique topography. The park follows a co-design approach, involving two major local sports associations present on-site, as well as neighborhood associations.

Signages

On a site with a complex and fragmented layout, we created a series of active design ‘stations’ featuring colorful signage, inspired by the playful topography and softened by a color palette that echoes the agricultural fields surrounding the city
